2020 SWOC Cross Country Championships Preview


The 2020 Southwest Ohio Conference Cross Country Championship Meet will be held at Ross High School on Saturday, October 17th.  Spectators must purchase tickets digitally prior to race day, access codes have been given to each school.  The day of racing will begin at 9:00 AM with the Girls High School Race and will be followed by the Boys High School Race at 9:45 AM.  High School Awards will be presented at 10:45 AM.  The Girls Junior High Race is scheduled for 11:00 AM and the Boys Junior High Race will commence at 11:30 AM.  Junior High Awards will be presented at 12:15 PM.

The SWOC Girls Cross Country Championship has been won by Talawanda three consecutive seasons and five of the eight seasons in conference history.  Ross (2014 & 2015) and Harrison (2016) are the two other SWOC schools to claim championships.  The top seven times posted so far this season are:  Hannah Lippincott (Talawanda) 18:55; Maddy Iden (Talawanda) 20:09; Libby Farmer (Talawanda) 20:16; Morgan Barnes (Ross) 20:51; Lilly Iden (Talawanda) 20:57; Kylee Carver (Talawanda) 20:59; and Natalee Fritz (Ross) 21:17.  Talawanda's Hannah Lippincott was the 2019 Athlete of the Year and Maddy Iden was the 2018 Athlete of the Year, respectively.

For the second time in conference history, Talawanda won the SWOC Boys Cross Country Championships last season.  The Brave also won the inaugural SWOC title in 2012.  Past champions include:  Ross (2018 & 2015); Edgewood (2014); and Mt. Healthy (2013). The top seven times posted so far this season are:  Kiefer Bell (Talawanda) 16:02; Logan Murray (Talawanda) 17:07; Jens Bartel (Talawanda) 17:23; Addisen Kohls (Harrison) 17:34; Alex Schuler (Ross) 17:49; Luke West Poley (Talawanda) 17:58; and Josh Ackermann (Northwest) 18:05.  Talawanda’s Kiefer Bell was the 2019 Athlete of the Year.  Good luck to all the athletes and coaches!!!
