SWOC Spotlight: Edgewood Cougars

The EHS and EMS XC teams supported the 1N5 Warrior Run by participating in a 5K Virtual Race on September 26th, for National Suicide Prevention Month. Both teams ran a 5K that morning at the EHS XC Course. All money raised will be given to Edgewood High School and Middle School to be used to support the mental health and well-being of students and staff.

While the pandemic and social restrictions are negatively affecting physical and mental health, we are all being challenged to figure out how to navigate the changes.  The unprecedented uncertainty we are facing is causing, and will continue to cause, drastic damage to mental health.  Now, more than ever, support is needed to battle the rapidly increasing mental health needs.

With so many community events cancelled because of COVID-19, the Cougars believed the Virtual Warrior Run was a great opportunity to join forces with other mental health warriors and to Find Your Path to health and support 1N5’s mission of optimal mental health for local youth.

Each team had a goal of raising $1,500 to give to their schools, $3,000 total, to promote suicide prevention and mental health.
