2020 SWOC Swimming & Diving Championship Meet Preview

On Saturday, February 1st, the 2020 Southwest Ohio Conference Swimming & Diving Championship Meet will be held at Miami University and will be hosted by Talawanda High School.  Admission to the meet is $6 per adult and $4 per student.  Heat sheets will be available for $2 each.  Warm-ups are scheduled for 4:45 PM and competition will start at 6:00 PM.  Parking is available near the Rec Center, at meters on the street or in the parking garage.

Talawanda has won each of the seven previous SWOC Girls Swimming & Diving Championships and looks ready to claim their eighth consecutive title under the leadership of Coach Steve Pasquale.  Top times posted for the season have been attained by:  2019 SWOC Female Swimmer of the Year and State Qualifier Mercy Patterson (Talawanda) in the 100 Butterfly and the 100 Freestyle; Maren Patterson (Talawanda) in the 100 Backstroke, 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle,  50 Freestyle, 200 I.M., and the 100 Breaststroke; Addie Lehman (Talawanda) in 1 Meter Diving; and the Talawanda Relay Teams in the 400 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle and 200 Medley.

The seven previous SWOC Boys Swimming & Diving Championships have also been claimed by Talawanda and Coach Steve Pasquale.  The Brave appear poised to make it eight straight this year.  Sitting atop the SWOC statistics list heading into the Meet are:  2019 SWOC Male Swimmer of the Year and State Qualifier Ben Crowder (Talawanda) in the 200 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle, 200 I.M., 100 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke and 500 Freestyle; 2019 State Qualifier John Anzano (Talawanda) in the 100 Breaststroke; 2019 State Qualifier Samuel Hool (Talawanda) in 1 Meter Diving; and the Talawanda Relay Teams in the 400 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle and 200 Medley.
