Talawanda Wins Boys & Girls SWOC Swimming & Diving Championships

For the seventh year in a row, the Talawanda Brave have won the SWOC Girls Swimming & Diving Championship.  The Brave, of Head Coach Steve Pasquale, have claimed every title since the inception of the Southwest Ohio Conference.  Talawanda finished 75 points ahead of runner-up Ross at the conference meet.  Team standings were:  1. Talawanda (420); 2. Ross (345); 3. Little Miami (186); 4. Harrison (140); 5. Edgewood (119); and 6. Northwest (77).  Mercy Patterson (Talawanda - Freshman) was named the 2019 Girls Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Year.  She won two individual events: the 50 Free, in a Conference Meet record time of 24.69, and the 100 Back, in a Conference Meet record time of 1:01.00.  Mercy was also part of two winning relay teams:  the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay.  Joe Stewart (Ross) and Steve Pasquale (Talawanda) were selected as SWOC Girls Swimming & Diving Co-Coaches of the Year.  For complete results, please go to the Girls Swimming - Conference Meet tab.

Likewise, the Talawanda Brave have claimed the SWOC Boys Swimming & Diving Championship for the seventh consecutive season.  The Southwest Ohio Conference has seen the Brave accept the championship hardware every year of its' existence, since 2013.  Talawanda Head Coach Steve Pasquale's team more than doubled the points of meet runner-up Harrison.  The final team scores were:  1. Talawanda (501); 2. Harrison (232); 3. Little Miami (192); 4. Ross (170); 5. Edgewood (100); and 6. Northwest (34).  Harrison's Mike Brossart was voted SWOC Boys Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year.  The recipient of the Boys Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Year was Ben Crowder (Talawanda - Sophomore).  Ben won two individual races:  the 200 Free, in a Conference Meet record time of 1:47.10, and the 100 Butterfly.  He was also a member of two winning relay teams:  the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay, which set a Conference Meet record with a time of 1:33.53.  Sam Hool (Talawanda - Sophomore) set another Conference Meet record by obtaining a score of 287.90 in 1 Meter Diving.  For complete results, please go to the Boys Swimming - Conference Meet tab.
