4 Teams With 1 Loss Sit Atop Football Standings After Week 8

As we approach the final two games of this season, Little Miami, Edgewood, Harrison and Mt. Healthy are atop the SWOC standings with one conference loss apiece.  Each of these teams can either clinch an outright title or a share of the title over the next two weeks.  Here is a quick look at the four contenders for claiming the 2018 SWOC Football Championship:

Little Miami:  The Panthers are currently in first place with a record of 7-1 overall (4-1 SWOC).  Little Miami travels to Edgewood tonight and hosts non-conference foe Western Hills next week.  A win tonight would clinch at least a share of the championship.  The Panthers only loss was at the hands of Harrison.  Little Miami leads the SWOC in Offensive Scoring (38.5 points/game) and Defensive Points Allowed (12.4 points/game).

Edgewood:  The Cougars sit 1/2 game behind Little Miami with an overall record of 6-2 (3-1 SWOC).  Edgewood hosts two contenders over the next two weeks, Little Miami tonight and Mt. Healthy next week.  Ross handed the Cougars their only loss during SWOC play.  Edgewood leads the conference Offensively in Rushing Yards per Game (317.9) and Defensively in Yards Allowed per Game (201.3).

Harrison:  The Wildcats are even with Edgewood and Mt. Healthy by possessing a record of 5-3 overall (3-1 SWOC).  Harrison hosts Mt. Healthy tonight and travels to Northwest next week.  The Wildcats dropped a SWOC contest to Edgewood earlier in the season.  Harrison leads the SWOC in these two offensive categories:  Total Yards per Game (397.1) and Passing Yards per Game (272.5).

Mt. Healthy:  The Owls are tied with Edgewood and Harrison with an overall record of 5-3 (3-1 SWOC).  Mt. Healthy is on the road the next two weeks, travelling to Harrison tonight and Edgewood next week.  Little Miami defeated the Owls the first week of conference action.  Mt. Healthy is #2 Offensively in Rushing Yards per Game (258.8) and #2 Defensively in Yards Allowed per Game (246.3).
