Owls control conference football fate

When Mount Healthy defeated Edgewood 50-14 on Oct. 23, the Owls set themselves up to win another conference football championship. Senior quarterback David Montgomery rushed for 373 yards and six touchdowns to move Mount Healthy to 5-0 in conference games.

Edgewood (7-2 overall) and Harrison (6-3) are each 4-1 in SWOC action. The Wildcats are coming off a thrilling 31-28 win over Northwest (6-3, 3-2) in week 9.

Edgewood travels to Harrison on Friday night. The winner, while hoping for a Northwest win over the Owls, would lock up second place if the Knights can't knock off Mount Healthy.

Mount Healthy travels to Northwest in week 10 (Oct. 30) and an Owls win would secure the fourth straight conference title for Arvie Crouch's fighting Owls.

With a 38-21 win over Little Miami in week 9, Ross has a chance to finish the season 5-5 overall with winless Talawanda coming to visit Oct. 30. In the win over Little Miami, the Rams' Cole Hannon ran for 213 yards and two touchdowns, to go with Dustin Foley's 151 rushing yards and three scores.
