Mount Healthy moves to 8-0
Just two weeks remain in the football regular season. Mount Healthy has a stranglehold on the top spot in the conference. The Owls clinch a share of the league with a win Friday at home against Edgewood.
The race is still close and this week's matchup between Northwest and Harrison will have a huge impact on the final standings. The Knights and Wildcats are both 3-1 in the conference, the winner will have a chance to split the title with Mount Healthy, although they will need some help for that to happen.
Talawanda's Maurice Thomas has planted himself at the top of the conference rushing records. Thomas' senior season is already the best, in terms of rushing, we've ever seen in the SWOC. Last Friday, Thomas (Miami University commit) set a school-record with 339 yards on 38 touches and three touchdowns in a 34-28 win over Edgewood. With two games to go, Thomas has 1,931 rushing yards. That total is already a single-season conference record. As a sophomore, Thomas led the SWOC in rushing.
